“U Exchange….I listen, U Excite….I focus, U Engage….I
learn, U Encourage….I trust, U Empower….I believe.”
The foundation of my teaching
philosophy rests on my belief of “Possibilities Infinite” with
children. It encompasses the ‘whole child’ and encourages an
environment where everyone is involved in the teaching-learning process. I know
that it is my foremost job as a teacher to believe in each child’s potential;
and create opportunities to facilitate them to perform and achieve. This small step
can give them the big confidence for life that they can succeed.
I step into my class with the
belief that the learning that happens during play is the real learning. The
best teaching-learning environment is where both the facilitator/teacher and learner
are enjoying. Most of my lessons are delivered while playing with children.
Most of the time my classes are ‘on-the-mic’ or noisy, ‘on-the-wheels’ or
moving and ‘all play’. But, I try to be a facilitator more and try that my
learners enjoy the learning process. Discipline in class for me is the effort
to keep all children engaged and not an effort to keep them quiet, obedient
or/and followers. This willingness to
make my every class a ‘Fun-O-Learn’
experience helps me come up with many new and innovative, yet simple
teaching-learning ways to use with my learners; and keeps my children busy and
connected with me and class.
Furthermore I believe that
any learning in the classroom is incomplete if it could not find a link with
the child’s environment outside the classroom. So, I always ensure to connect
my lessons to the child’s broader environment and help with experiential learning for my students.
Lot of my teaching aids are inspired and created from the common games children
play or from the materials, magazines or papers easily available around. This, I believe helps model ‘recycle-reuse’
with my students and peers and inspires true creativity. I maintain an open,
honest and friendly relation with all to help them find me easily approachable
and share freely. I actively take clues from children and proactively evolve my
teaching methodology.
In nutshell, I do everything possible to
provide an exploratory, independent and active learning environment in my
classrooms.
